Pearls of Nature..........V...

This is an absolutely stunning image overall, creating a sense of light and movement while maintaining a sense of balanced tranquility. The clarity and focus on the water drops and the single diagonal strand of web are particularly well done. The targeted depth of field pulls the viewer into the rhythm. A key element to the movement is the way the focus transitions from the row of drops on one strand of web to a second strand as it approaches the diagonal cross-web. The near-complementary effect of the blue-black areas of focus on the drops provides visual punch, as well. The golden light engages a full range of senses, not just sight, evoking a feeling of time and warmth.

The extreme horizontal format works fairly well, but the composition might be improved by cropping a bit more off the right side. The image would still have the stability of the wide horizontal, but the emphasis would be more clearly on the crossover point of focus, and the diagonal would add to rather than disturb the tranquility. There is also some distracting visible digital noise (probably unavoidable in the lighting situation), which would be less noticeable with additional cropping.

This image goes far beyond the average web-and-raindrops shot in both vision and technique.
