First, the composition is well balanced. Technically the reproduction of the very bright area on the right and the dark blue foggy area on the left is perfect. Even if the scene is kind of magic, the photograph shows an authentic natural landscape. However, there are millions of photographs, showing alleys or trees with sunrises / sunsets, so there is not too much originality. Also the the photograph didn't tell me a story so far, but probably this was never the intention of the artist. But what I mostly appreciate, are the natural colours without exaggeration or oversaturarion. It gives a natural picture of the landscape as we all see it with our eyes and is, anyway, full of atmosphere.
The colours a beautiful and soft, but at the same time deep and powerful. The mist add a beautiful layer to the colour and the overall effect of the picture.
The landscape composition works well in the picture, you can view the change of colour perfectly. The trees going off into the distance, i think that the landscape works best with this compared to a portrait version. And portrait composition would be the most commonly used version or apparent choose.
The contrast of black of the trees, the dark vlue and the yellow/orange works really well within the picture. Your eye is drawn to the sun at first. Then your eye works its way through the rest of the picture.
Beautiful composition, colour and layout. Perfect scenery, and a great picture to start off 2012
